It’s been a while. The last post here was a chicken and dumplings recipe back in December 2020, and the front page of this site still thinks it’s 2018. A lot has happened since then, so pull up a chair and let me catch you up on what I’ve been working on.
AWH Industries
Most of my working hours go to AWH Industries, my technology and consulting company. We publish a daily AI and tech briefing there, and I just started a new article series called Running a Faith-Media Venture with AI Agents. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how I run a small faith-media project with a team of AI agents doing a lot of the day-to-day work.
Part 1 is live now. It covers what we publish, the cheap and boring plumbing underneath, who does what on the team, and the one rule that holds it all together. Parts 2 and 3 come out on October 5 and October 12.
The Quiet Path
The faith-media project in that series is The Quiet Path. It started as a free iOS app I built with slow, guided journeys through Psalm 23, Psalm 91 (we call that one The Shelter Path) and Psalm 51. There are no ads, no accounts and no streaks. It’s meant to help you slow down, not keep score. Alongside the app there’s a daily devotion email on Substack and a podcast.
There is one human behind all of it, and that’s me. The rest of the team is a small group of AI agents, each with one job. I approve anything that sends, spends or changes a live system. If you’d like to try it, here’s The Quiet Path on the App Store.
Bandito Barbeque Catering
Longtime readers know I’ve been posting barbecue sauce and brisket recipes here for years, so this one shouldn’t surprise anyone. Bandito Barbeque Catering is my barbecue catering business, and brisket and pork are the stars of the show.
Acre & Plate
Acre & Plate is a ranch-direct directory for people who want local, sustainable beef. The idea is simple: help you find a rancher near you, and be honest about where your beef comes from.
Anchor Point Data Services
On the more serious side, Anchor Point Data Services handles secure IT asset disposition and data destruction (ITAD) for businesses. When a company retires old laptops, servers and drives, the data on them needs to be gone for good, and that’s the job.
Homeroom
And one for the parents. With teenagers in the house, I wanted one place to see what’s due each night. So I set up Homeroom, a Grok Bot AI helper that pulls the kids’ assignments from Schoology every afternoon into a family Tonight’s Homework page and flags upcoming school events.
